I got my start in law the same way most people encounter it, unexpectedly.
My first lesson was that, criminal or victim, most everyone arrives to the American justice system lacking the knowledge required to navigate it.

I was no different.

In my case, a brutal crime inflicted upon my husband led us down a complicated path, fighting the Workers' Comp and Social Security Disability systems.
​
Like many others, I found myself angry, confused,
and feeling as if my voice didn't matter.
Fact is, our poorest communities are on the front lines of the failures within our legal system.
They are the ones that our laws and bureaucracies hurt first, and hurt most.
I realized that if I wanted to help my family and other people like us,

I needed to work to change the system.

That's why we are out in the streets, in the community and in the courtroom increasing access to justice and improving legal outcomes with Yocum Law, JusticeMobile and Kind Counsel.

The JusticeMobile provides legal education and resources to people in areas that may not traditionally have access to proactive legal resources. This mobile legal clinic can be utilized by employers, agencies, non-profits and schools to educate and improve the lives of their employees, clients or students, regardless of income or location.
