Mindy Yocum wrote an article about the importance of establishing a "kinder" law firm and some easy tools and techniques to help attorneys deal with
difficult clients.
What does Columbus need to thrive? “As a community, I believe we do a great job of supporting our neighbors, encouraging growth and challenging outdated beliefs. We are a city of action—and when we see issues or problems, we look for solutions. Programs that support entrepreneurship and social impact are incredibly important. Additionally, I think it is essential for government agencies, nonprofits and private companies to work together. Too often, we duplicate the efforts of other community members instead of partnering with our colleagues or competitors to improve everyone’s social impact.”
Mindy Yocum is taking her brand of lawyering to the streets – literally.Yocum will extend the reach of her Yocum Law practice with the JusticeMobile, a traveling office that will make its way across the state providing legal clinics for employers, agencies, non-profits and schools.
“I’ve not seen anyone else come to it from that angle, with that kind of enthusiasm and commitment,” McQuain says. “She’s constantly out there hitting the pavement, trying to talk about how they can help make this community better one person at a time. And still make a business out of it.”
She also regularly schedules free “legal clinics” in the Columbus area at places such as the Holy Family soup kitchen and food pantry in Franklinton, the Star House (a drop-in center for homeless youths in the Milo-Grogan area) and at the Columbus Metropolitan Library’s main branch Downtown.
Mindy is the founder of Yocum Law Office, a socially conscious law firm where she provided legal education and accessible legal services to individuals and businesses. Her goal is to reform the entire legal system by helping as many people as possible to understand their general rights, encouraging individuals to be proactive about legal issues, increasing access to justice for low and middle income individuals, and providing education to the community so that re-entering individuals can have seamless and successful returns to the community.
